Rātā Foundation is the South Island’s largest philanthropic organisation, having granted over $500 million over the past three decades to communities in need across Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and the Chatham Islands.
The foundation receives no income from external funders or gaming machines, making it a unique philanthropic community. This also means that owning their own digital channels is critically important. That’s why NV Interactive was tasked to redevelop their website to better reflect Rātā Foundation’s vision and mission.
Formerly known as the Canterbury Community Trust, Rātā holds in trust for the community, a pūtea of over half a billion dollars. This pūtea, allows Rātā to invest $20 million per annum, in the communities of its four funding regions.
In 2015 the decision was made to rebrand to Rātā Foundation in order to better reflect their strategic vision, core beliefs and be inclusive of their four funding regions.
Having worked with the trust since 2013, we immediately recognised the opportunity to completely reframe their digital communications through a reimagined web platform.
Leveraging the fresh and iconic Rātā brand elements, we extended this to profile the multiple areas of community giving, skills development and showcase heartfelt stories of the impact the Rātā Foundation has had on so many.
